Anterior Tibial Tenosynovitis
Introduction  |  Anterior Tibial Tenosynovitis  |  Medial and Anterior Tibial Syndrome  |  Posterior Tibialis Tenosynovitis  |  Stress Fractures
This condition is caused by any of the above but instead of a muscle becoming inflamed the sheath that surrounds it becomes thickened.
Treatment
Rest for 10 days - when training is resumed increase mileage very gradually
RICE twice a day for 12 minutes (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
Anti inflammatory tablets/gel
Physiotherapy may include ultrasound laser and interferential
Stretching exercise
Avoid running downhill
Strapping
Surgical treatment may be necessary in extreme cases
Shin splints
