Medial and Anterior Tibial Syndrome
Introduction  |  Anterior Tibial Tenosynovitis  |  Medial and Anterior Tibial Syndrome  |  Posterior Tibialis Tenosynovitis  |  Stress Fractures
This condition describes a common cause of athletes leg pain. Pain is located on the inner border of the tibia. It is most commonly caused in runners who elevate their training mileage too quickly. There is increased pressure in the deep muscles, which leads to swelling. The increased pressure can lead to nerve damage, which can give numbness and weakness.

Anterior Tibial Syndrome
The muscle involved usually stops a 'slapping' gait. If mechanics of running are changed in any way by either using a higher running heel or running on wet or icy surfaces the muscle will be put under too much strain and become inflamed.
