Pelvic / Pubic Symphysis Pain in Pregnancy
This is pain at the pubic symphysis, which is usually aggravated by walking and turning over in bed. It may be central, or more to one side than the other, and can vary from mild discomfort, to being extremely restrictive.
Causes
Hormonal changes to symphysis pubis
Postural changes
Treatment
Avoidance of aggravating movements / positions / activities
Advice regarding labour positions / sleeping positions / activity etc
Provision of braces / supports / crutches when required
Local treatment post-natally to reduce pain / speed recovery
Advice post-natally regarding activity etc
